Roebyem Anders was sustainable before the word was ever coined. She studied economics and political science at the UVA and went to London to work on environmental economics. She did work on clean energy for the World Bank, the International Energy Agency and BP among others. She does not shy away from special jobs, so she helped De Telegraaf -behind the scenes of course, because it does not fit with the asphalt image-to become the most sustainable media company in the Netherlands

1. Radically charming and incredibly creative

Roebyem’s creative enterpreneurship shows in all the initiatives she has developed and made successful. She is co-initiator of the School Rooftop Revolution Foundation with the aim of filling thousands of empty roofs in schools with solar panels. She initiated the Rental Roof Revolution: way to convert millions of rental houses to solar energy. And she recently set up Zonnext, a platform for approved second-hand panels. Furthermore, Roebyem started a process to train refugees to become installers for solar panels.

2. Opens doors and opens heads

Together with her daughter Rosa, she was trained by Al Gore to become a Climate Reality Leader, with the aim of spreading the importance of taking action against climate change as two generations. She knows how to win people over and open doors that remain closed to others. Very educational for every entrepreneur and leader!

Melati Wijsen is a young changemaker from Bali. In terms of personality, she is best characterized as a blend of Greta Thunberg, Bojan Slat and Barack Obama. At the age of only 12 (!) Melati and her sister managed to get single use plastic bags banned in Bali. Melati is the founder and figurehead of Youthtopia, a network of young changemakers around the world. A film about her and this movement launched in 2022: Bigger than Us. Melati is one of those speakers you may not know upfront, but will never forget after September 29.

Maryna Saprykina  won the 2023 Speaker contest with her speech: “Sustainability in the Times of War”. 

She is sustainability consultant from Ukraine who has seen the resilience of Ukrainian businesses firsthand.  

Her keynote addressed the role of sustainability in business continuity during times of war.
